Sterling Heights Michigan Snake Situation: I am moving to oakland county mi community in late feb. My husband and I have purchased a new manufactured home with a screened lanai which overlooks a conservation area. Since it was just built, I don't anticipate any problems but I'm from PA and have a fear of snakes (I don't even like the garter snakes I see in my area, although I know they're beneficial). You may be wondering why I'd move to FL but my desire for warmer weather outweighs my fear of snakes. Anyway, when I move, would you be able to inspect my new home for any potential problem areas...I fear they would get into our crawl space, which is skirted with stone. I also have a parakeet which I know would love the lanai but I fear would attract snakes...and I have a dog who is curious and doesn't know enough to avoid them. Anyway, is this something you would even recommend for a new home? I figure if you could identify any problem areas, you could tell us what we could do to prevent any infestations (of any kind, not necessarily just snakes). And is there anything you could do to repel the snakes so they would avoid my property altogether that would also be non toxic to my pets and the environment? What would you charge for this service? my home is approx. 1320 sq. feet with a lanai and 8x8 storage shed. Please advise. Thank you!

I've been trying to research this breed and found your website. I'm not looking for removal options but I do have a question. Are these snake overly curious? I live in Miami and see them in the neighborhood all the time. Recently I've had a couple instances when the snakes would come up and check me out. One time I was leaning on a stone wall, looking at a plant and felt a 'tap-tap' on my arm. I turned my head to see a racer just looking at me. Today, I noticed one in the backyard and it noticed me as well. I sat down and decided to watch it for a while. About ten minutes go by and I thought it either hadn't moved or slipped under the fence into the neighbors yard. I moved to get up and there it was fleeing away from my feet. Is this common? I've never seen anything like this from other types of snakes! Thanks for taking the time to read this.
