Salinas California Snake Situation: We found a small snake in out kitchen last week! I called Orkin who referred me to Trutech, advertised as a wildlife animal removal and control company. A tech came out and set glue traps, mouse traps in attic. No mice caught yet. One small, 8-10 inch juvenile rat snake was seen crawling along the baseboards in my pantry. Which also backs into the bathtub access wall. This is where he came from. A glue trap caught him that night. Another was caught in sealing tape I used to seal the door on the next day. The tech came out again and said he believed we had an "infestation" since they were both small and tracks were seen in the sand under the tub and around the pipes. Also 2 large wholes about 1 1/2 - 2 inches were seen in the sand. This has been since Friday. They charged $438. dollars and require a $90.00 month service plan to monitor, monthly (and was told would come more often if needed or snake seen again) to bait the rat traps outside of house and inspect house monthly. Does this sound legit? I am a retired widow and am so afraid of snakes. Have not slept in my bed 4 nights, sleeping in the living room in a recliner with lights on. I don't know if this routine or not for snake removal. They said they would check again today. The tech also sprayed with Dr T's snake repellent and I showed him the reviews of such repellent not being effective, especially that brand advertised for only 2 kinds of snakes, which is not what they identified as what is in my house. Is this typical removal if identified as having a nest in the house. This is very unpleasant and alarming to me, disrupting everything and do not know who else to inquire of. I have taken the steps you mentioned on yard and surroundings and have had my family over to assist in sealing my house. Any insight you can give would be appreciated, Brenda
