Rochester New York Snake Situation: Hi! I've lived in north upstate NY most of my life, so I am not typically concerned about a passing snake. However, twice now I have come across an extremely small snake by my front door step, which is about 5 feet from the nearest grass. We moved here in February. The first one I found was at night in June. It was a tiny cotton mouth, about 6-8 inches long & skinny as my pinky. Tonight I came across another tiny snake, a bit smaller with darker coloration. I'm wondering if this is a coincidence or if I should call someone. This is a newly built home about 200 yards from the Rochester area & a heavily wooded area. I have a small dog, so I am a bit concerned I am in a breading area or something. Thanks for your advice! I will call Rochester WR Services if you think it necessary. Question: how long does it take for young black rat snake to reach maturity (both length & ability to reproduce)?

Hi. I got online i search for help dealing with sankes in my home. Started out a year ago. First a started seing snakes in the basement so i went around looking for holes or cracks in the foundation and noticed a hole my the water pipe leading outside but after thinking about i said to my self its impossible for them to get in there. Its like 17in. From the ground. So i looked under my deck and there was a small like tree growing next to the foundation then i realized that that was the spot were they were getting in throught the siding and on to the water pipe crack. So i peeled the siding on the bottom of the house and there 4 pretty big size Gartner snakes i removed but my question is this. How do i know if there in all over my siding. My house smells really bad in side and i know is from the snakes. Is there any equipment that i can buy or rent or hire somebody to help me i dont know what to do anything more. Thank your advise will be appreciated.
