Oak Forest Illinois Snake Situation: Just wanted to check to see if you are still doing the free snake identification. I had been gone from home for four weeks and when I returned found two shed snake skins on top of my dresser. I will send you one of them, but I couldn't find your address on the web site. I did find a live smaller snake in my house the next day, no way for me to trap it or contain it in one room because of the lay out of my house (and its head was larger at the neck making me think it could be poisonous) so I ended up killing it. There had been a mouse in my house in Orland Park before I left and it isn't around anymore. Please let me know if I can send the skin to you otherwise I will take it to the naturalist at the state park and hope that they have enough knowledge to help me. I'll wait to hear back from you about the snake skin. I also forgot to mention that about a month before I left on vacation there had been a long (about 41/2 - 5 foot) black snake (with yellow under neck) in my house for a few days that I was aware of. I originally thought it was a stick laying in the middle of my floor. I tried to ease it back outside but instead it went to under my TV table and was coiled up there for a few days. (which is a route that my mouse ofter took). I left the door to the porch open and after a few days it seemed to be gone. The skins that I have are not that long. (originally I thought it was one skin and was that long but after unraveling it realized it was two smaller separate snakes. thanks again for any help you can give me, mary
