Fayetteville North Carolina Snake Situation: I live in Fayetteville NC. I opened my garage door and there was a 4 ft snake skin laying parallel to the door. My thought at the moment was that that snake was in the garage somewhere. I could not find it and haven't yet. I am not sure how to tell what kind od snake it was but I back up to a wooded area and have often seen "barn snakes" or black snakes. I realize it could be a poisonous one also and do not know how to tell from the skin. There are not critters in my garage for a snake to eat and I'm wondering if the snake would stay around or just use the concrete to help it shed.

Hi, I read your automatic response and I will read your site about removal without harming the snake or my dogs. It also said that I could email this address for a faster response. I just forward my first email since the photos were attached but if you have any trouble opening them, let me know. I would like to know if my 4 or 9 lb. Yorkies could be hurt from the snake. I appreciate any help in the matter. We had a black rat snake once before in the yard, it was huge! (Easily @ 2 yards). It also smelled, this one hasn't. We haven't seen it but then we also have a huge drainage system in our yard. I have been looking on the internet and I obviously am NOT an expert but am now guessing a brown snake. My sister thinks it is a cobra, but since we live in NC I figured that was fortunately not likely, but she countered with how they just found a rattle snake in the next town over. Thanks again for your help. ~ Megan

We have been finding these snakes in our back yard lately. We are backed up to a lake that connects to the Lewisville lake. Is this snake venomous? I was "told" it was. How do I keep them out of our yard? We don't have tall grass or anything in the yard at all. It's literally empty. My husband caught it with a rake this time. This is the 4th one we have caught in 2 weeks. A couple of them we taken out with the weedeater on accident. Is there someone we can call for help. Lots of people beside us who are also backed up to the water are finding them. Even in their houses. YIKES! We have small kids and want to keep them safe.
