Dayton Ohio Snake Situation: David, Thanks for the response.... Back in the early '70s I lived in a 90 year old farm house that was quite in need of restoration. I had 3 episodes with 6' black snakes. I now black snakes are good, but I had 3 small children....we did not have bed frames, our mattresses were on the floor. 1. The first floor was 4 steps up a porch. One day a 6' snake was inside along a wall. 2. A couple months later, my wife and I were upstairs and my 8 year old daughter was downstairs and yelled up...."daddy, there's a snake on the stairs.....should I get the gun?!?!?" 3. We had a back stairway where we stored lots of boxes....and two closet poles. One day I found TWO snake skins wrapped around the two poles. It was disconcerting thinking that they could be coming upstairs into our bed and that's my concern. I have killed a water moccasin entangled in the birdnetting around my garden and my neighbor killed a copperhead that bit her dog...again, many thanks for your site and help in identifying the skin...
Good morning, I saw your website and will be very appreciative if you could identify this snake skin as I am 'very anxious' to find out what it is. I am scared of snakes. I am sending you pics. I live in Central Oho, Dayton area. Previously, I have seen a coral snake in the backyard and there have been three sightings in the subdivision. Hopefully, it is not a coral snake again. Thanks so much.
I came up on your site researching if metal detector frequency repel snakes or not-- They don't, thanks a lot. I don't kill rattle snakes but when I am in snake country, I carry a long snake stick and keep it out front. I will also stamp my feet on the ground with the idea that snakes will sense the vibration and move away. Do you think Rattle snakes are sensitive to ground vibration and move out of the way? If so, wouldn't a ground liberator repel snakes around a house?
Hello, I was looking at your website and trying to identify this type of snake, but I'm still not sure what if is. Do you know? It was about a foot and a half, and less than an inch around. I was zoomed in with my iPhone about 6 feet away when i saw it. Is it poisioness?
